Hawaii 5 Go canoe paddle race
On Sunday May 18, the Kikaha O Ke Kai Outrigger Canoe Club held an amateur paddle race competition at Spanaway Lake Park. NHPI participated with four canoe teams. All our teams varied in ages and gender and had very little to no experience paddling. Kikaha provided all equipment and even offered free lessons and had a professional paddler on each of our canoes to assist our teams. There were over a dozen amateur teams, and each team raced four heats. The best times on each race determined final placing. We are proud of all of our teams especially placing in 2nd overall. Congrats to all our teams!!

1st Annual PaoPao Race
The sunshine was with the 3 teams that rowed at NHPI's very first PaoPao race at Spanaway Lake. Many of them first time rowers but came out for a fun workout. They did two 500m heats and although it was a very close finish both times, Tagata Lua came out on top. NHPI will present awards at Move It! on July 5th at Mt. Tahoma High school. Our event would not have been a success without the amazing support from the Kikaha O Ke Kai Outrigger Canoe Club. Mahalo to all of you for your time and effort.
